Emma Garland
4 minute read
As a company, we are proud to encourage our employees to get involved in the Umbraco community. This year we have two renewed MVPs: Emma Garland and Karl Tynan. Emma and Karl have been encouraged to attend local and online meetups and conferences, such as Codegarden, Umbraco Together, Umbraco Spark, and CODECABIN.
In addition, we are keen to enable our employees to give back to the Umbraco community. In the last 12 months, Karl Tynan has been a co-organiser for umBristol, the local Umbraco meetup in Bristol, and has been allowed time during working hours to help facilitate umBristol events.
Rock Solid Knowledge have been proud to do its part in providing the office, food, and drink for some of last year's meetups. Karl is also an assistant organiser for CODECABIN, which takes quite a lot of planning during working hours. This has never been an issue for Rock Solid Knowledge, which makes it really easy for our employees get involved with the organising team.
In the coming months, our employees will be attending more Umbraco events. These include Umbraco Spark, where Emma will be talking about Umbraco and AI, and Codegarden. As a company, we actively encourage our employees to consider speaking and putting forward talks for these events - there is no better way of learning something than trying to explain it to others! And valuable skills in public speaking are with us for life.
We have also taken on an apprentice developer, Ross Arnold, in late 2022 to train using Umbraco in the coming months. Before joining, he had zero knowledge of Umbraco and is now excited to be learning the CMS, thanks to employees as advocates and Rock Solid Knowledge for pursuing the technology.
