We are proud to announce that our development team at Rock Solid Knowledge was awarded Umbraco Contributing Partner status, one of a select number of Gold Partners to achieve the award in its first year of operation.
The Contributing Partner status was introduced in 2020 to highlight specific Umbraco Gold Partners that "go the extra mile" to help grow the Umbraco open source project and the wider Umbraco community.
We have been Umbraco Gold Partners since 2017 and, during that time, the development team at Rock Solid Knowledge has been allocated a portion of their working time to contribute to the Umbraco open source project and community events.
In our local community, we often host or support umBristol, the Bristol Umbraco User Group, where our senior software developer, Karl Tynan, is an assistant organiser. Our team regularly attend meetups and social events for the group.
Members of our team have also had the opportunity to go to international conferences and off-site events, including: hackathons, Codegarden, CODECABIN, Umbraco UK Festival and Umbraco Spark.
And we don't just turn up to these wonderful meetups and events...
In 2020, we were pleased to be a sponsoring partner to Umbraco Spark. Our senior software developers, Emma Garland and Karl Tynan, have also been speaking at various Umbraco events over the past few years. Most recently, Emma shared her findings on How to Power-up a Customer Service Bot with Umbraco at the second Umbraco Spark conference in March.
Emma Garland was awarded Umbraco MVP status in 2018 and 2019, in recognition of her fantastic work and time invested in the Umbraco open source project.
All our developer team have had the opportunity to work on projects that are close to their hearts. For Emma, Umbraco has been a huge part of her development career so far and continues to be a keen area of interest with her involvement in Umbraco projects and the Unicore team.
The Unicore team was setup in January 2020 as a new community initiative that will help to future-proof Umbraco by transitioning the content management system (CMS) from .NET Framework to .NET Core.
Emma Garland was one of the few selected from community developers to help with the transition. A portion of her working time, along with some other team members, will continue to be set aside to work on the project.
Our expertise in security, combined with being the European Support Partner for IdentityServer, gives us a great platform to assist with migrating members, groups and users in Umbraco. Our lead security expert in identity and access control will also be providing his knowledge, support and development time to help move Umbraco to .NET Core.
As a company, we are very proud of our development team’s work and effort towards helping Umbraco and the community. We cannot wait to continue to allow our team to give back to the projects they love to work with the most.
